Plan To Thrive

About The Book

Don’t Just Retire. Plan to THRIVE. is a different kind of retirement book. It blends personal struggle, real life experience, and practical guidance into a clear and deeply human approach to retirement. It helps you uncover blind spots, rethink what truly matters, and make coordinated decisions that align your wealth with your values, your relationships, and the life you want to live.

This book begins long before the financial decisions. It starts with perspective, vitality, purpose, and the meaning behind your time. It challenges the assumptions people carry into retirement and helps them see the decisions that matter most with more clarity and less fear.

Through stories, lessons, and real examples, the book introduces the six pillars of the THRIVE Planning Framework. These pillars bring structure to the most important areas of retirement: Taxes, Healthcare, Risk, Income, Vitality, and Estate and Legacy. You will learn how they fit together and why a coordinated plan brings far more confidence than a collection of disconnected strategies.

Why the Book Was Written

Most retirees make decisions in isolation. They get advice about investments, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, long term care, or estate planning, but rarely in a clear, connected way. That gap leads to uncertainty and blind spots, and those blind spots become the biggest source of regret.

This book was written to solve that.
To give people clarity. To provide a structure. To remove guesswork.
To help good people make wise decisions and focus on what matters most.

A Personal Letter From David

Dear Reader,

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. Over the past 25 years, I’ve sat across from hundreds of families preparing for retirement. I’ve learned that most people’s biggest concerns aren’t really about money. No one should feel uncertain about their future.

Yet many people still do, even those who have worked hard, saved diligently, and done many things right. Many feel alone, unsure, and afraid to admit it. Not because they failed. But because no one ever told them the rules change when the paycheck stops. And that uncertainty creates questions. Do we really have a plan, or just a pile of accounts Will our income actually last? Are we paying more in taxes than necessary? And if something happened to one of us, would the other know where everything is, who to call, and what to do next?

I wrote this book because I believe retirement should bring clarity, not confusion. My hope is that the stories, lessons, and framework inside these pages help you see retirement differently. Not as the end of a career, but as the beginning of a chapter filled with purpose, confidence, and freedom.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey.

Wishing you purpose, fulfillment, and the confidence to thrive while you’re alive,

David Lukas
